Vulcan XH558 Cockpit Experience for two with a light lunch

You will be part of British aviation history and experience ‘the Vulcan effect’.

Hear ‘the howl’ of the mighty Olympus engines, get up close under the famous delta wing, and be part of the Vulcan XH558 ground crew for the day.

You will be supplied with a pair of crew coveralls and hi-vis vest for the full session so you can be part of the team who put XH558 through her servicing procedure. You will experience sitting in the Vulcan cockpit and helping with tasks to bring the aircraft to life. During the run you will be fitted with a headset to enable you to listen to the chat with the tower and all the instructions to the team.

Your prize will include experiencing the power of the Olympus engine at 100% and hearing the famous Vulcan ‘howl’ from inside the cockpit.

2nd Prize

Two Raleigh XH558 Camo His and Hers Bicycles

Each bike carries the very DNA of XH558 through the camouflage style paintwork, which is the actual paint used on the aircraft.

Vulcan XH558 Engine Ground Run Experience for two with a light lunch

Be part of British aviation history. Experience ‘the Vulcan effect’. Hear ‘the howl’ of the mighty Olympus engines, get up close under Vulcan XH558’s famous delta wing, and meet the ground crew.

You will watch the ground crew prepare the aircraft for power-on and witness the aircraft come to life as the control surfaces – elevons and rudder – are exercised in preparation for all Olympus engines being started. Hear application of full power on selected engines and the famous Vulcan ‘howl’.

You will see the operation of the bomb-bay doors and airbrakes and there will be opportunity for a short visit to the cockpit.

4th Prize

Unique XH558 Oil Painting - Vulcan in Flight

This painting is a 600 x 500 unframed oil painting by Linda Sutton M.A. (R.C.A.). Linda was born in Southend-on-Sea, Essex and studied at Winchester School of Art and the Royal College of Art in London, graduating in 1974. She is a regular exhibitor at the Royal Academy Summer Exhibition. She also has pieces in the collections of Queen Fabiola of Belgium, The Sainsbury Collection, The 7th Marquess of Bath (Longleat House) . 

5th Prize

Platinum Jubilee Art Deco Style Avro Vulcan Model

Limited to only 70 pieces, recognising the 70th anniversary of the first flight of Avro Type 698, VX770, on Saturday 30 August 1952. It was the prototype for the Avro Vulcan and the birth of this iconic aircraft.

Known as Avro Type 698 at the time of the first flight, the aircraft was named Vulcan days later at the Farnborough Airshow.

This cast aluminium Art Deco model of the AVRO Vulcan is platinum in colour, displayed on a contrasting black stand to make the iconic delta-shape of the Vulcan stand out. 

With a wingspan of 420mm​​ and length of 410mm, each Limited Edition Platinum Jubilee Art Deco Style Avro Vulcan displays its unique number on the base of the model and is accompanied by a Certficate of Authenticity. 

The winner of this prize will receive number 70 of 70.

6th Prize

Vulcan XH558 Airside Tour for two

Enjoy some time in the presence of British aviation history. Walk beneath the iconic Avro Vulcan’s huge delta-wing and view the thousands of names displayed beneath this much-loved aircraft.

You will spend approx. 90 minutes at the aircraft, which will include​ an underwing tour and being able to speak with our Volunteer Engineering Team about the work currently being carried out on the aircraft – such as changing oils, inspections, tests and minor repairs. The bomb-bay doors will be swung and control surfaces exercised on your visit and you will be able to climb up into the cockpit.

Limited Edition Aluminium Wall Art

Limited to only 50, this Aluminium Wall Art, featuring an image of XH558 in formation with the Royal Air Force Aerobatic Team, the Red Arrows was XH558’s final display at RIAT, taken on Sunday 19 July 2015 by Dr Robert Pleming.

The Vulcan XH558 Anodised Aluminium Wall Art is manufactured in the UK using a special four colour process for photographic quality images, giving a more vibrant and more metallic effect surface.

Three Bladed Turbine Segment

This blade unit was removed from Bristol Olympus Jet Engine No 620378 whilst in use in XH558 and service with the RAF Vulcan Display Flight. It was fitted to XH558 on her final flight into Bruntingthorpe upon retirement from the RAF after being purchased by C. Walton Limited. The engine was later damaged in an incident and changed prior to XH558 being purchased by Vulcan to the Sky Trust.

A replica XH558 Aircraft Identity Plate completes the display piece.

11th Prize

Five Blade Turbine Segment

This blade unit was removed from Bristol Olympus Jet Engine No 620378 Unit T18 whilst in use in XH558 and service with the RAF Vulcan Display Flight. General:
All participants must be over 18 years of age and a UK resident.

Tickets to the draw cost £2 each and can be bought individually. Each ticket purchased gives an equal and individual entry into the draw.

Online entry:
The public can enter our raffles online. Strict controls exist to protect against under age entry, habitual or excessive gambling by use of this entry method.

Entrants must confirm that they are over 18 on entry and must provide a daytime contact number.

Random telephone calls will be made to verify any such entrants are eligible and that they did indeed request entry. Multiple requests will be monitored and any excessive applications will be referred to our promoter for reference under our social responsibility guidelines.

By entering, you agree that you qualify under the terms of entry and that you desire to be entered in the draw.

The draw will be made in front of independent witnesses at Doncaster on Tuesday 20th September 2022.

Winners will be announced in our online newsletter on Friday 30th September 2022 and will be posted on our website www.vulcantothesky.org If you would like written notification of the winners, then please send a SAE to the above address with RAFFLE RESULTS printed in the top left corner.

Social Responsibility:
In order to be socially responsible and to deter organised or habitual gambling, online entries are restricted to a £20 maximum at any one time. We reserve the right to refuse multiple applications by any method without explanation and the promoter’s decision will be final.

Tickets will be available for purchase at various events attended by The Vulcan to the Sky Trust throughout 2022.

Prizes:
All prizes are as described on the promotional page of this web site. Winners will be notified, with the winning names and ticket numbers being displayed on our website within 7 days of the draw taking place.

All prizes will have an alternative in case of circumstances beyond the promoter’s control, but this will be discussed with each prize winner and mutually agreed should any situation arise due to weather or technical issues preventing the specified prize/s taking place in reasonable time.

There are no cash alternatives to the prizes offered.

Eligibility:
All participants must be over 18 years of age and a UK resident when the tickets are purchased. Tickets must not be knowingly sold to anyone not meeting these criteria. Tickets may not be sold willingly outside of the mainland of the United Kingdom. Certain restrictions apply in Northern Ireland and the Channel Islands for the sale of physical tickets.

UK residency or proof of UK Citizenship may be requested. Winners may nominate relatives or friends to undertake the prize if applicable and agreed with us.

By entering you agree to limited photographic publicity in connection with the prize offered in the nature of promoting future raffles for the Trust. At all times your personal details will be protected, other than your name and general geographic home location to satisfy our legal obligations in announcing the winners in a clear and fair draw.

Travel to redeem prizes will be at the winner’s expense unless a payment towards expenses is detailed as part of the prize. In such circumstances, the Trust is limited to the amount offered. We can make no compensation due to the cancellation of any event due to circumstances beyond our control, technical, weather or otherwise. If required an alternative date or event will be arranged as possible.

We do not use your details or that on any entry to pass to third parties, but from time to time, may use your data for other Trust information and promotional activities. In this case, you will have the option of being removed from our records if desired at any future point in time.

Proof of identity and age maybe requested if deemed necessary at any time in connection with the ticket sales or delivery of prizes.

Certain good health conditions apply with some of the prizes. It is the prize winner’s responsibility to advise the Trust of this situation in advance if you feel there are conditions you need to declare.

Employees or appointed contractors of The Trust or of any company providing the prizes are not permitted to enter the draw.
