In 1960 I visited Farnborough air show, parking my car up to the runway ropes (permitted in those days!).
A white Vulcan was displaying, and by good luck I was parked just where it rotated. The memory of it going sharply into a near-vertical climb, with the ground vibrating under my feet from the power of those engines has remained with me for the last 55 years.
The Vulcan was the only aircraft I remembered from that day, hence the reason I joined the VTTS Club as soon as I heard of its existence. I’m sad this will be her last flying year.
