In 1984 I had to hold at RAF Marham between flying courses on my way to flying Phantoms 1986 on. Whilst there I had a flight in the ‘jump seat’ of a Victor, it was majestic, almost serene (though the brief for the evacuation from a jump seat was a little daunting).

Later in my career I would tank from these aircraft flying both the Phantom FGR2 and the F4J and it was an experience very few would have. I loved these aircraft, they looked good and they fed me just when I needed it most, refuelling in cloud is a particular memory!
