As a young Corporal Air Radio Fitter posted to RAF Gaydon to work on Valiant B1’s waiting for the Victors to replace them.

In 1964 posted to RAF Marham still on the last of the Valiants as a Sergeant Air Radio Fitter QANVB.

In 1968 posted to RAF Waddington as a Chief Technician Air Radio Fitter QSAVNB on the Vulcans and in charge of the NBS lab. I had the fortune to have flown in all 3 V’s on air tests and other exercises.

I met many of the aircrews due to having carried out many debriefings and training the Nav Officers on fault finding the Bombing Navigation Systems. They were all second to none during the Cold War period and having spent 24 years in the RAF I have nothing but praise for the air and ground crews of the V’s.

I have been a supporter and share holder in the last Vulcan XH558 for the past 5years – such a shame the UK government cannot keep her flying.
