My Dad Philip Barton worked at Hawker Siddeley AVRO until around 1972 where his main role as a fitter was putting the wings on the Vulcan.

Dad told us tales of fitters being found taking a crafty nap whilst inside the wings and when caught by the Forman stated

‘asleep, no I was having a word with the Lord’

Dad was always proud to have been part of the Vulcans manufacture and his time at AVROs where he made many life long friends. he based his National lottery numbers on the number sequence he used to fit the wings, afraid he took these to his grave with him sadly in 2013.
