Back in 1963 I was a very young Junior Naval Air Mechanic, and I was posted to HMS Fulmar RNAS Lossiemouth.

I worked on the Station Flight section and we all had to duty evenings and week ends on the Salvage section.

Well it was about dusk when I was told to go and marshal in a visiting aircraft, so I got on my bike and made my way to the other side of the air field, up to that point all I worked on was Sea Hawks Venom s and Vampires, you can imagine my fright when this great big Vulcan came into land then taxied up to where I was standing

I did not know we had aircraft that big, any way some how I managed to stop this aircraft in the right spot and wobbled my way back to the section for a very strong coffee.
