I was 4 weeks into my Basic RAF training as a National Serviceman at RAF Wilmslow in October/November 1957 when one morning we were on the parade ground learning foot drill when a silver Vulcan appeared and then proceeded to overfly the drill square. Our Drill corporal stopped us and bellowed at us ‘to view the future’ .

The entire flight watched the Vulcan bank over the parade square and disappear into the distance with the roar of it’s engines ringing in our ears….awesome. A never to be forgotten moment.
