A cycle trip to Wareham from Warminster in Wiltshire.

The year – 1967.

Ascending the hill to Shaftesbury when suddenly a Vulcan flew over the close horizon, low and slow. So sudden, then gone. Never forgotten!

I was 19 and used to aircraft in the sky over Warminster and Salisbury. Plain-Lightning’s, Javelins, Canberra’s, Anson’s, Dakotas, but that was the best of times. A Vulcan, through the trees, there and gone.
