I live in Wem, Shropshire, 5 miles from RAF Shawbury, which during the 1960’s was one of 36 dispersal fields for the V-Bomber Force of 70 Vulcans, 39 Victors, 50 Valiants.

On one glorious sunny afternoon in April 1982 I was taking a group of my students on a farm walk around Walford College of Agriculture, Shropshire, when suddenly we heard and saw a flight of Vulcans which must have been practising for the successful raid on Port Stanley Airport in the Falklands.
