I was a National Serviceman from December 1954 – December 1956.
I was an Air Wireless Mechanic at RAF Gaydon from Feb/March 1955 (After RAF Hednesford Drill) and RAF Yatesbury (Trade Training).
C/Tech Edwards and Master Tech Patrick, along with Trevor Dances (A/Frame), ‘Geordie’ Anderson(Engines) and Paddy Dibble (Wireless) Looked after Valiant WZ 365.
One of my memories majors on standing under the Aircraft as the four engines lit – What could I do with a small fire extinguisher – particularly when No.1 failed to start first time, but blew out ‘blue fire’ at the second attempt.
Those were truly memorable days for me.
