My V Force connection commences in 1956 when posted to RAF Gaydon as an Airframe Mech on Valiant Squadron 232 OCU. Some 50 years later to become a VOC Volunteer in 2005 to support the restoration team.

I was a member of the Wednesday Crew within the 40 plus VOC Volunteers.

I dedicate this to the memory of Dave Petrie and Bob Tacey who were members of the Wednesday Crew. The VOC Volunteers were dedicated to getting XH558 back in the air and were rewarded on 17th October 2007 when once more the ‘Howl’ was heard and she took to the skies. Not a dry eye on that occasion.

It was a happy time at Bruntingthorpe filled with memories of companionship and of friendships formed with a great bunch of guys, some no longer with us. May XH558 long continue to inspire young and old in her retirement. Trevor Danks VOC Volunteer & VTTS Club Member.
