I was driving to an air show in Orange County, California, USA on May 1, 1982 and heard on the car radio news that a Vulcan Bomber had flown from Ascension and bombed the Airfield at Stanley on the Falkland Islands; a non-stop round trip flight of 9,200 miles. To my surprise there was a Vulcan bomber on display at the air show. I spoke to the crew-members and they had not heard about this. As a transplanted Brit I felt very proud at that moment.
