As a 10 year old in 1964, I have a lasting memory of the Vulcans flying over Melton Mowbray.

We always knew when one was on its way from, or to, Cottesmore because they were flying very low and were so loud that it felt like your chest was shaking.

My new brother-in- law at the time used to take my brother and I for a drive past R.A.F. Cottesmore to see the planes on a Sunday afternoon. A wonderful sight and an unforgettable memory of my childhood
