Firstly I remember seeing the Vulcan’s at RAF Scampton, as I passed there on the way to Lincoln from Scunthorpe. I would also take my 2 children to see them in the 70s there. We also went to the Air show at the former RAF Finningley. We shall never forget the scramble that the four Vulcan’s did there. That is a sound that will never be forgotten.

I also saw XH558s last flight round former Vulcan bases in 1993 at Scampton, she then flew onto Bruntingthorpe, her final resting place, so we thought . That was to be the last Vulcan flight, or so we all thought again . I then attended the ‘Roll Out’ on 31 August 2006. She was going to fly again, thanks to all her many supporters and the dedicated team of engineers. Best of all seeing her fly over the past 8 years and knowing that my wife & I have our names on her bomb doors along with 100s more of her supporters.

Come October, the skies will never be the same. We shall have to go more to Finningley {Robin Hood Doncaster} to see her.
