Vulcan XH558 Engine Ground-Run Experience – 20 November 2022

Vulcan XH558 Engine Ground-Run Experience – 20 November 2022

While the current situation with DSA is uncertain, we have been told that Vulcan XH558 can remain on site until June 2023. Our pre-booked events for the remainder of this year are all sold out and will continue to take place. We also plan to hold further events in early 2023, including a final engine ground-run, before we relocate XH558.

On Sunday 20 November, XH558 carried out her eighteenth ground-run session of the year. With DSA winding down operations, this may be the final time that the Fire and Ops teams at the airport will see and hear XH558 in action. VTST would like to thank the teams for all their support over the years.

These photos from the day are all courtesy of Andy Hellen, VTST volunteer and Freelance Photographer. You can see more of Andy’s work at flikr.com.

This Saturday 26 November, XH558 will ‘howl’ in a special event to thank our army of volunteers for all their efforts this year in the difficult and uncertain circumstances that we have faced.

Without our volunteer team we would not be able to achieve our aims and provide as much access to XH558 for her supporters.

We’ll share news of that event and events for the remainder of this year in next month’s newsletter.
