Made by Teddington Controls Ltd this Ductstat or to give it it full title Temperature Sensing Element was fitted in the Air Conditioning System of the the cockpit. It operated very much like your room thermostat does in the home.
Interestingly over it’s life it has had three code numbers 5CZ/5494, when used B1 and early B2 variants, listed as 27V/5272 in the parts manual and finally as 5CZ, 4335665 when the RAF adopted the NATO/OTAN 7 digit numbering system. Quite a life for a humble sensor.
The item comes with an MOD Label dated 02.04.81 issued at RAF Waddington and a Certificate from our Central Stores
