The space is limited. There are already tens of thousands of people’s names under the huge delta-wing, all wanting to be forever associated with Vulcan XH558.
You can join them and celebrate two significant moments in Vulcan XH558’s life; her first flight post restoration; and her final flight – the final flight of an Avro Vulcan.
For a £35 donation you will be honoured with a name under XH558’s bomb-bay. You will receive a certificate personalised with your chosen name, which you can keep as a collectable keepsake, or give as a unique gift to a relative or friend.
After over ten years of planning and persuading, Dr Robert Pleming and his team completed their restoration mission. Vulcan XH558 took to the air like a homesick angel, in a moment that delighted the aviation world.
Over the next eight years she would go on to delight millions of people at airshows up and down the UK. Sadly, on 28 October 2015, XH558 would take flight for the final time. This was the last flight of an Avro Vulcan.
To mark these significant moments in XH558’s flying career, we are offering you the opportunity to have your name under XH558, giving you a permanent connection to this remarkable and historically important aircraft.
Just as in the past campaigns to have a name under this iconic aircraft, this opportunity is open to all. Whether you have already taken part before, or wish to for the first time, your name can be forever displayed under Vulcan XH558.
The artwork on XH558 will be applied and revealed online in the first half of 2024. When the artwork is applied you will be able to see a listing of the names together with photographs.
You might like to dedicate a name in memory of a loved one, or a past member of the family who served in the V-Force or other services. Perhaps a family member who was employed by Avro. Or possibly someone who has huge enthusiasm for the Vulcan.
We have allocated areas on the underside of XH558’s bomb-bay doors, upon which we will apply plaques made up of the names in small lettering. Only visible upon close viewing, these plaques will not detract from the aesthetic appearance of the aircraft. Your chosen name will remain in place for her lifetime, being replaced if the surfaces are repainted in future.
