As a Vulcan XH558 Guardian you can join us for an exclusive, limited place event this 23 March to visit the home of some of the most famous aircraft in the world, at a special Guardians price.
Your visit will include:
09:30Â – Arrive at Runway Visitors Park at Manchester Airport for meet and greet
10:00 – Divide into two groups for fascinating 90-minute tour of the Concorde;
Enjoy an amazingly unique experience of a tour with one of the most iconic aircraft in history. When you board the famous G-BOAC aircraft you will spend time in the flight deck, providing you a great opportunity for you to marvel at Concorde’s unique aviation engineering. Also included is a tour of the cabin where you can sample the First Class seats.
You will walk under the wings and beneath the Concorde’s instantly recognisable nose droop. This guided tour of the aircraft explores the ground breaking technology behind the supersonic airliner.
Please be aware there are 26 steps to climb aboard Concorde. There are handrails on both sides.
11:30 – Your experience will continue with tours of two more of the aircraft on site;
The RAF Nimrod aircraft is now enjoying her retirement after action in the Falklands, Afghanistan and Iraq. Active in war zones from the 1970’s until 2010, Nimrod was a specialist search and rescue aircraft. RAF NIMROD MR2 XV231 made her final journey in April 2010, landing in Manchester and taking up residence in her new home.
The Monarch Airlines DC-10Â forward section has been carefully converted into a multi-purpose resource with a genuine ‘on-board’ feel. Seating up to 40 passengers with full audio-visual kit.
There will also hopefully be the opportunity to see take offs and landings on the adjacent runway.
12:30 – Return to your vehicle and leave for Avro Heritage Museum Woodford and a further four flight deck tours.
The Avro Heritage Museum preserves the legacy of Alliot Verdon-Roe and his company A.V. Roe & Co (Avro). Avro was a world leader in aviation.
Located on the former Woodford Aerodrome near Stockport in Cheshire, the site saw the production of famous aircraft including the Lancaster, Vulcan, Nimrod and Bae 146.
The museum is packed with a vast amount of heritage artifacts and documentation, including various models of Avro aircraft and a large number of storyboards.
Standing proudly outside the Avro Heritage Museum you will see Avro Vulcan XM603, the only Vulcan in the world to be preserved in the anti-flash white paint scheme.
13:15 – Break – Lunch is available to purchase at the Heritage Centre Cafe
14:00 – You will be briefed and will then visit the cockpits of the museum’s most well-known aircraft types;
