Vulcan XH558 Timber Watch
The Finningley Collection

The design studio is based in Manjimup Western Australia, set in its own 15 hectare forest. They know what it’s like to work with timber, Manjimup is home to some of world’s hardest timbers. Native Jarrah trees were used as sleepers on the London Underground and used to make roads in parts of Europe. This is where each Vulcan XH558 timber timepiece starts its journey.

The premium walnut and stainless handmade timepiece is made of sustainable timber. The strap is created using walnut timber links connected by stainless steel spacers.

Each comes complete in its own bamboo presentation box engraved with The Finningley Collection logo.

Watch movements are the heart and brains of our timekeeping devices. The Vulcan XH558 Timber Watch is fitted with the Miyota 2035 quartz watch movement – these are made by the Miyota division of Citizen Ltd and are considered to be one of their most famous and most reliable movements.

Is my watch waterproof?

Vulcan XH558 timber watches are splash proof. Activities that might include full immersion in water such as showering or swimming are not recommended and will cause failure of the watch. Water ingress is not covered by the warranty.

Can I change the battery?

Vulcan XH558 timepieces have been designed to be user friendly, the selection of the Miyota Japanese movement enables the wearer to change the battery with relative ease. The battery is located behind the timber back plate which is accessed by the removal of four screws. Alternatively your local watch repairer will be able to undertake this task for you.

Care for my watch

Your new timepiece is protected with natural oils which gives it water resistant properties. We recommend using a good quality furniture polish applied to a soft cloth. Wipe on gently and buff off to finish.

Do not spray furniture polish directly on to the watch, apply to cloth first.

Return and Warranty Period

If you’re not completely satisfied with your purchase we offer a 14 day return policy. Contact us for return information by emailing enquiries@vulcantothesky.org We will advise return details and arrange an exchange or refund when the watch has been received and inspected.

Your timepiece has a 12 month workmanship warranty from the date of purchase. Please keep your delivery receipt which will act as your warranty. The warranty does not include general wear and tear, water ingress and battery failure.

The Finningley Collection range honours the link between XH558 and her home in Doncaster at the former RAF Finningley site.

Today, the majority of the site has been developed, but from 1915 to 1996 it was an operational station of significant importance to our nation’s defences. At the end of the 1950s work was carried out to the base for it to operate as a V-bomber station. The airfield became known as the home of the V-bomber after Avro Vulcan, Handley Page Victor and Vickers Valiant aircraft had all been stationed at the base.

XH558 operated on this site between 1961 and early 1968. When she landed for the final time in 2015 on the long, ex-military runway, former RAF Finningley became her final operational base.
