"Temper the Sword"

Formed at Lindholme by renaming No 1653 Conversion Unit on 15 March 1947.

This unit was disbanded on 15 August 1952 to become the Reserve Training.

Reformed in 1956, it trained Vulcan crews at Waddington until 1961, when it moved to Finningley, before finally moving to Scampton from 1969 to August 1981.
