Recently I was invited by the 26th West Bessacarr Beavers group to speak about Vulcan XH558 to help the group to get their aviation badge.
We talked about the Vulcan, the size of her in double decker buses, her speed and the equivalent number of locomotive engines for the same amount of power.
The Beavers loved watching some of the video clips of 558 flying, and an engine run. They had some great questions, my favourite was when they asked about the 2 tones of colour of camouflages on the Vulcan. They were asking whether there are speed cameras in the sky as well!
I also talked with them about jobs at airports and how to stay safe when you’re working in the team with the jet.
Thank you for the invite, it was great fun. The Vulcan has been giving me the chance to learn about STEM and aircraft engineering. Hopefully this will have helped some others to be interested in the Vulcan and in working with aircraft and engineering in the future.”
